In order to make sure the wood pellet mill work successfully, there are many things taken into consideration.

First, the moisture content of raw material must be kept about 13% to 15%. However, the greater moisture content is, the poorer wood pellets quality will be. Also, the friction in the die of wood pellet press will produce heat, which makes the water gasify. Therefore, the moisture content is a key factor deciding the quality of wood pellets.  

Second, before raw material getting into the wood pellet mill, the dimension should be proper. Wood shavings will cause the blockage in gearbox and wood chips will lead to mechanical failure. Before pelletizing, raw materials should be processed by wood chipper or hammer mill in order to meet the proper size.

Third, wood pellet mill can process different material into different wood pellets through adding water or binder. Of course, some material like soft wood need not to add any binder during making wood pellets due to rich lingin.
